Rice Cereal Madness

I tried to include this video in my earlier post on Arlo's new food fixation. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work, but I just figured it out. Enjoy!

I know I'm a little biased, but is he too cute for words, or what?

Swimming lessons are going swimmingly

We are nearing the end of Arlo's first session of swimming lessons. I have to say that signing him up for the lessons was one of the best decisions we could have made. We heard about the program from a friend, and started doing some research on an Australian website (Uswim.com) about the method used to teach kids how to swim.

In addition to Arlo learning some basic water skills, Ryan and I have learned a lot. For example, a few weeks ago, the instructor starting started an exercise where the kids "fall" off the wall of the pool, the parent helps turn them toward the wall, and the baby puts his hands on the wall. Here's a video of Ryan and Arlo in action:

Arlo is the youngest in his class, but it's amazing how far he's come since his first lesson. He still needs to work on holding onto the wall and a few other skills, but he's learning fast.

Too Busy

Apologies for the blog silence. I'm in the thick of my busy season at work, so my days and nights are filled with work, work, work.

Arlo is almost six months old. In fact, his half birthday is the same day as Ryan's 35th birthday! It's going to be quite a celebration.

This month, Arlo started eating real food, and as usual, we have a complete photographic record.

Mmmm... Sweet Potatoes

What? Do I have something on my face?

Thanks, Momma!

What the heck is this?

When we aren't working or feeding our little bottomless pit, we try to get some fresh air. This weekend, the sun came out, so we meandered around our local beach on Puget Sound.

Cold but beautiful!

Soma found a stick perfect for chewing on.

Olympic mountains and sail boats... awww.
